TORONTO - Actor Kevin McHale says he's surprised by the number of ardent "Glee" fans he met while taking a spontaneous trip to Vancouver to check out the Winter Games.

McHale said Wednesday that he and co-stars Mark Salling, who plays Puck, and Matt Morrison, who plays teacher Will Schuester, had a blast during a two-day trip last weekend. He said they caught some hockey, checked out bustling Robson street and were constantly met by fans.

"I think it was kind of the most we've all gotten recognized, ever. Apparently everyone in Canada watches 'Glee,'" said McHale, who plays the wheelchair-bound Artie. "We went out for like 15 minutes when we first got there just to walk around and we had to go back to the hotel because we got stopped like every two seconds. We were getting mobbed."

McHale says the trio were at a restaurant when Canada's Jon Montgomery won the gold in men's skeleton.

"We were out eating and the town just erupted when he won and it was incredible," he says. "The building was shaking from people cheering."

McHale says co-star Cory Monteith, a Calgary native, had been in Vancouver the previous week for the opening ceremonies and suggested they check out the festivities.

"Glee" returns from a mid-season hiatus April 13 on Global.
