UPDATED: Fox's hit musical dramedy "Glee" is now the top-rated new scripted series this season.
Bolstered by its "American Idol" lead-in, "Glee" (12.2 million viewers, 5.2 adults 18-49) surpassed ABC's "Modern Family" on Tuesday night to become the highest-rated freshman series -- a point Fox is certain to make at next month's upfront presentation to advertisers. CBS' reality show "Undercover Boss" remains the top-ranked new series overall.
"Glee" also was steady with its rating last week while many other broadcast shows hit their lowest numbers of the year. "Idol" (19.4 million, 6.9) was on par with last week.
CBS was second with "NCIS" (16.3 million, 3.5), followed by "NCIS: LA" (15.6 million, 3.2) and a season-low "The Good Wife" (12.1 million, 2.2).
Third-place NBC saw "Biggest Loser" (7.5 million, 2.8) drop 18% this week, which had a direct impact on "Parenthood" (5.8 million, 2.4), down 17%.
ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" results show (12.4 million, 2.4) was low, followed by a "Lost" repeat. At 10 p.m., and without an original "Lost" lead-in this week, "V" (4.9 million, 1.9) sank 14% to a season low. The CW aired "90210" (1.5 million, 0.7).
