"I think he's just such a wonderful songwriter," he told On The Red Carpet. "I've always been inspired by his music. I literally used to fall asleep to his music with my mum's sports Walkman, it was a cassette tape."
Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, added that he does not want the show to have too many themed episodes.
"I don't know if I want the show to go into, 'Let's do a theme of this person and this person', because I feel like it would lose the specialness of the show," he said. "But if we were to do one I would love to do a Prince episode or something, that would be awesome."
Meanwhile, Jessalyn Gilsig explained that she wants her character Terri to get revenge on her ex-husband Will through song.
"I really want to sing 'Don't Cha' by the Pussycat Dolls," she said. "In Will's face."
