Top High School Cliches from Episode 1.15, "The Power of Madonna"

Glee is full of moments so unexpected they require us to rewind our Tivos just to ensure it wasn't all a hazy fever dream! But even this show is not immune to the moment or two here and there that we've seen in just about every high school movie or TV show ever made. Here are the three most cliched high school moments so glaring we couldn't just let them slide. Someone's got to keep this show on its toes... !

3. Talking about your "friend" when you're really talking about... yourself! Shocker!

Rachel Talks About Her (Hypothetical) Self
Rachel assures Quinn and the other glee girls that she's not dating anyone, and then proceeds to ask a question about dating. She doesn't want the information for herself, of course; this is all purely hypothetical! You know what else is hypothetical? Let's envision a reality where we haven't seen this type of conversation play out a million times!

2. The jock who's too manly for whatever sensitive thing the masculine-but-with-a-heart-of-gold protagonist wants to do.

Puck Acts Manly
Puck can have a personality of his own at times, but too often he's just used as a foil to give the producers a chance to flesh out Finn's character arc. Such was the case this week, when Puck is the voice of dissent when Schue tries to hoist "What It Feels Like For a Girl" on them. Finn is dreamy and concerned about the plight of the fairer sex? What a guy!

1. The boyfriend who pressures the girl into sex, only to realize that he was moving too fast.

Jesse Presses Rachel into Sex
Has there ever been a show about high school that didn't involve a guy trying to convince the girl that they were ready to have sex? Heck, we're pretty sure that Blossom could put out an entire DVD box set with "very special episodes" about just such a plot device! So it wasn't too startling to find out that Jesse wanted to move faster than Rachel did, nor was it all that shocking when he tried to atone for his fast-moving ways in order to get her back. And is it surprising that, of the three people who contemplated losing their virginities in the episode, the only one to go through with it was the male character? Way to break down gender stereotypes, Glee!
