Chris Colfer On His Emotional 'Theatricality' Scene: 'The Tears Just Came'

Last night's "Glee" carried a lot of emotional heft, but there was one scene in particular that stunned us, touched us and really made us think about the words that hurt. As I talked about in my recap, the tense and groundbreaking moment in the basement with Kurt, Burt and Finn may come to be one of "Glee's" most pivotal (Finn used the hurtful f-word in reference to Kurt). The scene proved to be an important experience for the actors involved, especially Chris Colfer.

"When I was reading the scene," Chris recalled to Hollywood Crush, "on paper I had no idea how emotional it was going to be until I actually got it and I realized, 'Oh my gosh, this is huge.'" Still, as it turns out, the script — as meaningful as it was — wasn't tough for Chris to conquer. "It was really easy to film because it hit so close to home. It was so touching and so moving the tears just came." They did for all the "Gleeks" at home, too.

When I spoke to Chris a few weeks ago, he echoed the show's creator Ryan Murphy's sentiment that Kurt would "never be a victim." What he said then feels even more apropos in light of that very scene, "Kurt will never let anything victimize him, he might be the victim of certain situations and certain people, but it will never affect him."
