"Every day, I’m in singing lessons and dance lessons," Stamos, 46, told On The Red Carpet's Chris Balish at the premiere for Disneyland's California Adventure's new attraction, World of Color.
"These blessings rarely drop in your lap and when they do, you just go ‘Wow,’" he said. "I’m really excited to dig in there and treat it with respect. I’m such a fan of the show and I just what love the message of the show is and the celebration of diversity on the show. I mean, there is just no apologies for those characters and I’m really proud to be a part of something like that."
Stamos has become a pop culture icon due to his role in the sitcom Full House, which ran between 1987 and 1995 and also starred on the medical drama ER. In Full House, Stamos played Uncle Jesse alongside Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
He was referenced in the 2008 comedy movie Step Brothers as the man Will Ferrell and John C' Reilly's characters would choose to sleep with if they were women. Stamos also recently performed with the Beach Boys on the latest season of Dancing With the Stars.
Stamos, who has had stage experience on Broadway, said he didn't have to audition for Glee.
"I think they had an idea, they wanted to bring a dentist on who was going to be a rival for the Matt Morrison character and the creator and I have been trying to work together for a long time, so I think they thought, 'How about Stamos, let’s get him over here?’", he said.
Glee, which tells of a group of diverse "misfit" high school students in glee club, recently ended its debut season and has been renewed for another two.
