Karaoke Revolution: Glee

Like singing? Like the breakout Fox hit? Well, does Konami have a game for you.

It's 2010, so you'll excuse me if I assume you know how karaoke videogames work. The words pop up on the screen, you sing them while trying to match the pitch, and you get points for your performance. Everyone has fun.

Well, that formula is now being combined with the music and video of Glee.

Yes, Konami is partnering with the Fox television show to put out Karaoke Revolution: Glee, but this won't just be a compilation. The plan here is to give fans a way to interact and relive the show. Episodes 1 through 13 are covered in the game, and if you choose "Story," you'll play through the tale you know so well. A song from the show pops up, you sing it, and clips from the show play behind it.

I got to see "You Keep Me Hanging On" – a Quinn jam – during my demo, and it played out like you'd assume it would. Clips of Quinn and the show played, her vocals were there to accompany the player, and everyone had a good time. My only gripe was that the clips being shown weren't synced with the song, so it was weird to see people's mouths moving as they were having a normal conversation but just the song was being heard.

If you don't feel like popping into the story mode – say you have friends over – you can jump into simple singing (solo, co-op or duet) or pop the jukebox on to rock out to the master tracks from the show. Playing through all of this unlocks extras such as stuff left on the cutting room floor.

Karaoke Revolution: Glee is coming this fall exclusively to the Nintendo Wii. It's simple, but fans should keep an eye out for it.
