Somewhere Over the Oil Spill

Oil Spill
Glee and Fox are showing their support for the Gulf Coast by lending Mr. Schue and Puck’s “Over the Rainbow” song to be used in a video supporting clean energy.

Warning: This video should include a tissue alert! Between the lovely song and the awful images from the oil spill in the Gulf, the video seriously tugs at our heart — if not our ukelele — strings.

"This beautiful song and the tragic images from the Gulf Coast oil disaster remind us that we have a choice to leave a better world for our children," explains David Yarnold, the Executive Director of the
Environmental Defense Fund.

"I wanted anyone and everyone to see what our addiction to oil had done to the Gulf and to contrast that with the sense of hope and possibility that 'Over the Rainbow' exudes."

In that case, job well done, as there’s a nice audio-visual contrast between the rainbows in the song and the iridescent rainbows reflected in the soiled waters of the oil spill. Now, if only we could find a house to fall on top of those BP executives...
