Jayma Mays is filled with ‘Glee‘ over her story arc for Season 2 of the hit phenom show. After all, she got up close and personal with a childhood crush!
Former ‘Full House‘ star John Stamos guest stars this season as Emmy Pillsbury’s dentist – and new love interest – Dr. Carl Howell. Opening up and saying “Ahhhh,” to Uncle Jesse? “That sounds naughty and exciting,” Mays joked when I spoke to her recently.
Here is what else Mays had to share about…
Her New Love Interest Being Played By John Stamos:
“I totally had a crush on him [when I was younger]. Totally. Like, for sure. And I think he’s an amazing actor. I think he’s a perfect addition to the cast – he’s got pipes, so it’s great!”
Working with Stamos for the First Time:
“It’s so built up in my mind now, I feel like it’s a first date, like a blind first date, and I’m so nervous. And I hope to goodness he never reads that, but I was terrified to meet him!”
The Love Triangle Between Emma, Will and Dr. Carl:
“Well, John plays my dentist-slash-love interest and I think Emma likes him – I don’t think it’s a faux relationship. She finds him interesting and I think that maybe it’s going to make Will (Matthew Morrison) fight for her a little bit more.” A beat later, Mays adds: “I want boys to fight over me, what girl doesn’t?”
Emma’s OCD:
“That’s going to be a running theme for her, and trying to cure herself of that. In doing that, she’ll open up as a person as well; she’s very constricted, she’s very emotional and guarded, that’s from her needing to be perfect. It makes sense for her to make that metamorphosis eventually. That terrifies me actually, but I think it’s a slow process, and that feels like a more real way to handle that kind of situation.”
Season 2 of Fox’s ‘Glee’ premieres Tuesday, September 21, at 8/7c.
