Charice shares what goes on inside the set of ‘Glee’

The Philippines’ International Singing Sensation, Charice Pempengco, had a phone interview with Philippine Star columnist Bum Tenorio recently. During their conversation, Charice shared some insights on what goes on inside the set of ‘Glee.’

For starters, she revealed that the production of Glee strictly forbid hangers-on in the set. Her trailer, for instance, is normally parked a good distance away from the shooting area. When they need her on the set, she will be picked up by a production assistant who will drive her to the shooting location. After she finished her scenes, she is then driven back to her trailer.

Charice normally works around 12 hours, typically starting around 7 am and then finishing things up by 7 pm. She’s quick to add that everyone is very prompt and would be on the set at the designated time on their call slip.

During their first shooting day, Charice recounted how nervous she was since she does not want to commit any mistakes. She also said that during their shooting, they would put tapes on the floor to mark their blockings. She tried to memorize where these tapes are located since she cannot look at these markers repeatedly.

As for the director of Glee, Brad Falchuk, she has nothing but praises for him saying he is so meticulous with his work. For instance, her 5-minute scene with Lea Michele when they sang ‘Telephone’ together took all of 10 hours to shoot. This is because Falchuk wanted to cover all angles. She also disclosed that it was also Falchuk who instructed her to do some hand movements when she performed ‘Listen.’

One thing that really caught Charice’s attention is how tightly guarded the scripts are. She went on to explain that when Glee’s production sends out the scripts to her apartment, she has to personally receive the paperwork from them. Neither her mom nor her brother Carl is allowed to get the documents for her. These scripts are so confidential that these are torn and trashed by the cast themselves after they finish doing their scenes. Absolutely no one is allowed to keep their scripts after shooting is done.

Probably one of the most interesting things that Charice revealed is that she has the same acting coach as Meryl Streep and that her voice coach, Eric Vetro, is also the same one coaching John Stamos, Scarlett Johansson, Teri Hatcher, Jennifer Garner and Ewan Mc Gregor.

Hearing those names, we can all rest assured that Charice is in very good hands.
