"Glee's" "Teenage Dream" Targeting Big Chart Bow Next Week

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - "Dream" on, Gleeks: It looks like the show's rendition of "Teenage Dream" is going to debut big on the Billboard charts next week.

The "Glee" cast's take on Katy Perry's No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single -- with lead vocals by guest star Darren Criss -- is on its way to possibly the single-best sales week for a "Glee" single.

The track was released on Tuesday and is on course to sell perhaps 150,000 to 175,000 downloads by week's end on November 14, according to industry prognosticators.

According to Columbia Records, which releases "Glee's" music, the track did gangbusters on its first day, racking up 55,000 in sales via iTunes -- marking the highest first-day sales for any "Glee" track.

Currently, the cast of the Fox TV show saw its best sales week with its debut single, a cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'." It bowed with 177,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan upon its release in May of 2009.

The handsome first-week for "Don't Stop" enabled its No. 2 debut on the Digital Songs chart and a No. 4 launch on the Hot 100.

"Glee's" second-best sales frame arrived when another of the show's male guest stars, Jonathan Groff, helped push their take on Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" to a 134,000 start.

If "Teenage Dream" can whip up a very large sales figure, then there's a chance it could become the cast's first top 10 single on the Hot 100 since "Don't Stop Believin'."

So far, the ensemble has racked up a whopping 89 Hot 100 hits, but only "Don't Stop" hit the top 10.

November is turning into a really big month for "Glee" music fans. Not only is "Teenage" on a tear, but it will be included on the album "Glee: The Music, Volume 4," due out November 30.

Before then, the show's "Glee: The Music, the Christmas Album" will drop on November 16. The album can be heard on the show's MySpace page.
