Between Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears, and, uh, John Stamos, TV show “Glee” has attracted a lot of famous guest stars. However, there’s one Hollywood icon that star Chris Colfer has really set his sights on: Julie Andrews.
According to ContactMusic, if Andrews were to appear on the show, the plan would be for her to play the grandmother of Colfer’s character. Although the actress devotes more of her time to voice roles these days, she’s still a legend among musical theater fans for her performance in The Sound of Music and Colfer thinks she would be a perfect guest star for the show. Speaking on the subject, he said:
“I’m pretty sure I’ve been obnoxious enough now that she knows that I want her. I think they just have to write it for her.”
Of course, that’s assuming that Andrews decides she’d be up for a cameo appearance. There’s no reason to believe she’s against the idea, but she hasn’t commented on it yet so Gleeks shouldn’t get their hopes up too high.
In other news, Colfer also said that another famous actress, Anne Hathaway, wants to appear on the show as “[his] lesbian aunt.” We’ll wait to hear confirmation from Hathway herself on that one.
From what we know about this show it makes sense that Julie Andrews would make a great guest star, although fans would probably want to see her perform, and it’s hard to imagine a someone writing a convincing script in which a grandmother character winds up belting out “Don’t Stop Believin’” or “Livin’ on a Prayer.”
Then again, it is “Glee.”
