Glee To Air Gary Glitter Song In The UK

Contrary to some reports yesterday, TV bosses in the UK are planning to still air an episode of Glee which has caused controversy in the States.

The episode, which is titled Sexy, received complaints when it was shown in the US on Tuesday (March 8), due to a scene involving Gwyneth Paltrow.

The Country Strong actress' character, substitute teacher Holly Holiday, performs the song Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah) - originally recorded by convicted sex offender Gary Glitter - during a lesson on sex education.

It was claimed the scene would be cut from the UK broadcast when it airs next month, but a spokesperson for Channel 4 says it won't be edited.

"The scene is editorially justified," a rep explains, "and we do not seek to censor material in the proper context."
