"I knew nothing about makeup and hair," she told PEOPLE. "I wore all the wrong colors and plucked my eyebrows too much."

Though the Glee star is now a magazine cover girl, she wasn't always so confident in her looks. "[If] anybody needed it, I probably did," she told GQ of considering a nose job in high school. "But my mom always told me, growing up, 'Barbra Streisand didn't get a nose job. You're not getting a nose job.' And I didn't."
