Oxygen’s The Glee Project continues to build its case for a second season.
The reality series hit a series high in total viewers as well as several key demographics, including the advertiser-beloved 18-49, with its most recent episode Sunday.
Glee Project, which will see its winner land a seven-episode guest arc on Fox’s musical dramedy, drew a series high 912,000 total viewers, up 16 percent week-over-week, and up 100 percent since its June 12 premiere when it struggled to draw an audience opposite the Tony Awards.
In the key 18-49 demo, Sunday’s episode also hit a series high, ticking up 31 percent (442,000 vs. 338,000). The series gained 26 percent among women 18-49, and was up 24 percent in women 25-54, with a 22 percent gain in viewers 25-54.
Since its premiere, executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Dante Di Loreto, Michael Davies and Shauna Minoprio, series is up 109 percent among viewers 18-49. When factoring in live-plus-seven results, the first six episodes of the reality show are averaging nearly 1 million viewers with Episode 6 hitting 1.3 in total viewers.
The ratings growth comes a week after executive producers noted that discussions for a second season have begun with the cable network. “Talks have begun,” Davies said last week during the series’ stop at the summer Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills. “A lot of the planning is starting to happen, how we’re going to do the casting process, which is the biggest thing.”
