Getting Ready
"I really like working with Lea, because she gives all of us—hair, makeup and wardrobe—the chance to really collaborate and come up with something that works together," Inglessis said on working with Michele. "She's willing to try anything, and definitely listens to what the experts have to say!"
Lancome Liner Design in Trendy Grey
While many use this product as a liquid liner, Inglessis used the shimmery grey cream as an eyeshadow base. "I blended this all over Lea's eye as a base. It gives the eyeshadow something to really grip on to," she said. "I think using a cream base is the key to making any smoky eye really work. Concentrate most of the color along the lash line, and blend outward using your ring finger or a makeup brush."
Available Spring 2012.

Lancome 5 Color Palette in Gris Fatale
Inglessis used the two darkest shades in this palette to create Michele's sultry smoky eye. "I started by defining her crease and blending in the two colors to create depth," she said. "Layering the colors was key. By building up the colors, I was able to determine how much eyeshadow Lea really needed without going overboard."

Lancome L'Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere
Because Michele's eyes were so dramatic, Inglessis chose a buff neutral for her lip. "I used a matte lipstick on Lea," said Inglessis. "Matte lipsticks are very modern, and the neutral tone allowed her eye makeup to be the focal point." $29; lancome-usa.com.
On the Red Carpet
"I think this look worked so well on Lea because I was able to take one of her features and emphasize on it," Inglessis told InStyle.com. "She has such gorgeous eyes, and I think her slate-hued dress tonight really called for a sultry, smoky eye with a metallic finish."
