Glee: The 20 Best Moments of Season 3!

The McKinley High seniors have their diplomas, but we’ll have to wait for fall to find out exactly where the future will take them (and how integral a part of the Glee universe they’ll continue to be).

With the show’s future direction still a little hazy, we thought it would be a good time to look back at the recently concluded third season and count down its 20 best moments. You know we’ll have New Directions’ Nationals performance and Karofsky’s pivotal scene from “On My Way,” but where will they rank, and what other Glee milestones will make the cut?

20. A gorgeous a capella rendition of "How Will I Know" by Kurt, Rachel, Santana, and Mercedes kicks off the show's Whitney Houston tribute. (Episode 17, "Dance With Somebody")




19. Blaine's brother Cooper gives a ridiculous "acting masterclass" to the kids of New Directions. (Episode 15, "Big Brother")

18. Finn sings a slowed-down version of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" as a way of showing support for Santana coming out as a lesbian. (Episode 7, "I Kissed a Girl")

17. Santana angrily explodes at Mr. Schue for his cultural cluelessness and dreadful performance as McKinley High's Spanish teacher. (Episode 12, "The Spanish Teacher")

16. Kurt and Sebastian exchange bitchy barbs at the coffee shop while not-so-subtly competing for Blaine's attention. Kurt: “I don’t like your smirky, meerkat face. I don’t like your obnoxious CW hair.” Sebastian: “One of us has a hard-luck case of the gayface, and it ain’t me.” (Episode 8, "Hold on to Sixteen")

15. Emma indulges in a bridal-fashion/musical fantasy and sings "Wedding Bell Blues." (Episode 10, "Yes/No")

14. Kurt and Blaine perform "Let It Snow" at their "holiday chalet" as part of a Christmas special for their local PBS channel. (Episode 9, "Extraordinary Merry Christmas")

13. Mike Chang gives his mom a dance lesson and finally gets her support for his own dancing dreams. (Season 3, "Asian F")

12. Brittany kicks off her campaign for senior class president with a jaw-dropping cover of "Run the World (Girls)." (Season 3, "Asian F")

11. "Unique" (The Glee Project's Alex Newell) performs a sensational cover of "Boogie Shoes" (in drag!) at Regionals. (Episode 16, "Saturday Night Gleever")

10. Blaine and Kurt have sex for the first time, as do Rachel and Finn. (Episode 5, "The First Time")

9. Ricky Martin (as David Martinez) performs "Sexy and I Know It" in the New Directions rehearsal room. (Episode 12, "The Spanish Teacher")

8. The Troubletones -- with Mercedes and Santana sharing lead -- perform an amazing Adele mashup. (Episode 6, "Mash-Off")

7. We discover Becky's internal monologue is voiced by Dame Helen Mirren. (Episode 10, "Yes/No")

6. Coach Beiste and Puck have an emotional, tearful talk about their self-worth in the locker room, and later duet on "Mean." (Episode 20, "Props")

5. Santana and Sebastian have a tense showdown via a duet to Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal." (Episode 11, "Michael")

4. The glee-club kids help Mr. Schue propose to Ms. Pillsbury at the McKinley High pool. (Episode 10, "Yes/No")

3. Dave Karofsky is humiliated in the locker room, then attempts suicide in his bedroom in an almost wordless scene set to Blaine's rendition of "Cough Syrup." (Episode 14, "On My Way")

2. The kids of New Directions perform "Edge of Glory"/"It's All Coming Back to Me Now"/"Paradise by the Dashboard Light" -- with Rachel proving particularly mesmerizing on the middle number -- and win Nationals. (Episode 21, "Nationals")

1. Finn takes a detour while driving Rachel to their wedding, puts her on a train to NYC, and reveals he's enlisting in the military. (If you cried in the car along with the show's central couple, raise your hand!) (Episode 22, "Goodbye")
