Glee | TVLine’s resident Gleek, Michael Slezak, has already shared his 13 observations of the Season 4 premiere, but what’s the harm in a few more? I see some of you asking about “Klaine,” and the fact of the matter is they really don’t share a quality scene until about two-thirds of the way into the hour – but when they do, I have every faith it will satisfy their fans, as Blaine finds a special way to tell his beau “It’s Time.” (But for what…?) All in all, I found it to be a rather strong premiere, buoyed by solid debuts from Kate Hudson (as a cocksure NYADA teach who isn’t without her tragic flaws) and Melissa Benoist (playing New Direction wannabe Marley Rose, who boasts one of the meatier backstories for a noob. But I must agree with Slezak that the new girl falls short in her “duet” with Rachel. ) Plus, the on-location NYC shots help sell Rachel’s metropolitan odyssey, which in the first hour ends in tears – including likely your own. On the lighter side, Brittany has two of her funniest lines ever – one involving a case of mistaken identity with Unique, and the other lamenting what she and Santana can and cannot do via Skype.

The Hollywood Reporter has screened the season premiere, titled “The New Rachel,” and has seven teasers from the episode.Rachel (Lea Michele) is no longer the top dog now that she’s at NYADA, New Directions are winners andreally know it and there are several fresh faces joining the Fox musical series.

'Glee' gets a new costume designer, Rachel and Kurt get new looks for season 4!

Elizabeth Martucci has taken over the Glee wardrobe department. After two years of assisting Lou Eyrich — who is now creating nun habits and 1960s separates for season two of American Horror Story – the costume designer stepped into the lead role just in time to give Rachel and Kurt their New York City makeovers. EW caught up with Martucci to find out how she’s taking the duo’s looks in a new direction, where she finds fashion inspiration and what it’s like to shop for a living.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Did Lea Michele and Chris Colfer have input on how their character’s style would change once they moved to New York City?

ELIZABETH MARTUCCI: I always enjoy hearing the actors’ thoughts, it’s a collaboration. I’ve been with the show since the second season, so we’re not starting fresh. We have relationships and there’s already trust there.

Since you’ve seen a little bit of Kate Hudson “out-dancing” everybody in the new Glee promo, we can reveal that she’ll be dancing to a Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga mash-up. You can hear a little bit of the Lopez song it in the promo, and we bet our bottom dollar that the Gaga number is “Just Dance.” But Glee always surprises us. And what’s the best way to deal with someone all up in your grill? Why, get a makeover and show ‘em up, of course! Which is exactly what Rachel will be doing in episode three.

The New Rachel

Rachel Berry lands in New York City to attend NYADA and meets Brody Weston, a handsome upperclassman who shows an interest in her. Meanwhile, back at McKinley, Puck’s bad boy younger half-brother, Jake Puckerman, tries out for the glee club, but his attitude could derail his audition.

As an incoming freshman at NYADA, Rachel struggles to adjust to the rigors of her new life in the Big Apple. She bumps heads with an influential instructor, and makes a new friend in handsome upperclassman Brody Weston. At McKinley, the returning members of New Directions bask in their celebrity status, but find that maintaining their newfound popularity comes at a cost. As the remaining members of New Directions compete to replace Rachel as the team’s headliner, Will holds auditions for new members, with interesting results. As Kurt struggles to adjust to his post-graduation life in Lima, Blaine offers some much needed advice.

Glee Exclusive: Lea Michele to Duet on Billy Joel Ballad — But Who'll Cover 'Call Me Maybe'?

We’re not sure if there’ll be an actual piano man in the mix, but NYADA freshman Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and McKinley High student Marley (Melissa Benoist) are slated to join forces on an iconic Billy Joel ballad during Glee‘s upcoming fourth season, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The pair will tackle “New York State of Mind” in two locations, with Rachel in Manhattan and Marley in Lima, OH.

“It’s a really beautiful number,” enthuses exec producer Brad Falchuk of the duet, which will take place in one of the season’s first few episodes.

Furthermore, TVLine scored some additional scoop about the New Directions’ cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” that will be featured in the Season 4 premiere. Falchuk revealed lead vocals will be split among Heather Morris’ Brittany, Jenna Ushkowitz’s Tina and Darren Criss’ Blaine, and that the finished product is “awesome.”

'Glee': Kate Hudson as Rachel's sexy new dance teacher -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTO!

Kate Hudson already got her dance on in the movie musical Nine, and it looks like she’ll be returning to those sexy moves on the Sept. 13 premiere of Glee, based on this exclusive EW image (co-creator Ryan Murphy tweeted a different image yesterday). Hudson plays Cassandra July, a dance instructor at Rachel’s new school, NYADA.

In this scene, her first big number on the Fox hit, Cassandra shows Rachel (Lea Michele, not seen) how it’s done at NYADA. But don’t expect the pair to be bonding too much during office hours — Hudson, known for her sunnier roles, is playing kind of a witch. “She’s hard-ass,” says Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk. “And she has her own demons. She works by negative.”

Hudson has signed on for six-episodes in season 4 while fellow actress Sarah Jessica Parker will make her debut in the third episode of Glee‘s fourth season.
