Best and Worst Song Performances from "Funk"

Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode — with even more on the way! That means that there are bound to be a few standouts... not to mention the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed last night's performances down to the very best and very worst of the episode. After all, not every Glee cover can end up a bestseller on iTunes!

Best Performance of the Night: "Loser" by Puck and Finn

'
How happy are we that the bromance is back in full effect! In fact, Puck and Finn's spontaneously rekindled best-friendship yielded the two most memorable performances of the night. Ultimately, though, we had to give the prize to this Beck song over more white rapping, courtesy of the Marky Mark canon. (Speaking of which, does anyone know what the rest of the Funky Bunch are up to these days? Because we didn't spot any of them in The Departed, but maybe we missed them.)

"Loser" was another well-placed fantasy song, a format that remains under-utilized on the show. It was fun — Finn strumming the broom, Sandy grabbing hand sanitizer, even Terri getting involved — plus it had that undertone of anger, key to any essential Glee moment. It certainly beat out a ho-hum Queen cover by Vocal Adrenaline, which didn't expand upon what we've already seen of them. Plus, we'd much rather see songs performed by the characters whom we love, and Puck is becoming more and more lovable by the moment! Actually, the only lament we had about this song was wondering why it took so long for a song about losers to be performed on this show!

Worst Performance of the Night: "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" by Quinn

"It's a Man's Man's Man's World" by Quinn in Episode 1.21
Okay, so "Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)" didn't feature any knockout lead performances, and was also dangerously dorky (how many at-an-angle hats could they cram into that one number?). But the loser of the night is Quinn. Sadly, her voice just isn't strong enough to do justice to a solo performance of James Brown. Plus, she made that awkward comparison involving her pregnancy and Mercedes's size. And how is it that the Glee producers didn't realize that having pregnant dancers onstage the entire time would get really tired, really quickly?
In your opinion, what are the best and the worst performances of the episode?
